Sharon Bismark, 47
Sharon Bismark died June 26 at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Ms. Bismark was born July 24, 1959, in Tyonek, Alaska. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Bell, Christine Bell and Toni Bismark; grandchildren, Melinna Bell, Sarah Worel, Ciara Bismark and Helen Bismark; mother, Tania Bismark; sisters, Alice Weber, Laura Alimi and Dorothy Bismark; and brothers, Fred, Steve, Robert, Stanley and Eugene Bismark.
Idella Agilina Brown, 81
Idella Agilina Brown died Feb. 27 at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Ms. Brown was born Dec. 25, 1925, in Teller, Alaska. She enjoyed sewing, berry picking, camping and fishing and lived an Alaska Native subsistence lifestyle in rural Alaska before moving to Anchorage. She is survived by her daughters, Daisy Piggott and Mary Montgomery; son, John William Okie; special grandson, Robert Brown; sisters, Emma Olanna and Cassie Driggs; brother, John Okie Jr.; and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Louise A. Dean, 74
Louise A. Dean died Nov. 17 in Seattle, Wash. Ms. Dean was born May 3, 1933, in Anchorage, where she lived until she was 15, to Clinton and Anna Johnson. She then moved to the Seattle area, where she met and married Walden (Wally) Dean on Dec. 16, 1950. They raised two children, Gary Dean and Linda Mansker (Greg) and had six grandchildren. Ms. Dean loved camping, travel, books, music, art and animals, but her greatest love was spending time with family and friends, according to her family.
Caroline Emily Grollnek, 36
Caroline Emily Grollnek died recently in Nashville, Tenn. Ms. Grollnek was born Sep. 15, 1971, in Soldotna, Alaska. She is survived by her husband, Michael Grollnek; daughter, Deborah Stephens; son, James Langley; sisters, Marlene Bickford, Louise Dhume, Marie Bartelli and Debra Vickroy; and brother, Ray Langley.
Edwin R. Harris, 62
Edwin R. Harris died Oct. 9 at home in West Linn, Ore. Mr. Harris was born July 24, 1945, in King Cove, Alaska. He is survived by his sisters, Rinda Johansen and Aniti Christophersen; brothers, Bill and Peter Harris; niece, Jessica Johansen; nephews, Roland Johansen and Doug Waterbury; companion, W.R. Barker; and many other nieces and nephews.
Rose Marie Moore, 69
Rose Marie Moore died Oct. 18 at home in Belmont, N.C. Ms. Moore was born Aug. 13, 1938, in Pilot Point, Alaska. She is survived by her daughters, Marie Clarkson-Hartgrove, Audrey Craig, Cammy Deaton and Marcia Strickland; sons, Robert Clarkson, Marty Clarkson and Joe Moore; and 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Eleanore Oskolkoff, 76
Eleanore Oskolkoff died Oct. 21 at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. Ms. Oskolkoff was born in Gunnison, Colo. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen and Christina Bridenbaugh; sons, David, Mark, Stephan and Curtis Bridenbaugh; grandson Ryan Bridenbaugh; and sister, Dorothy Winters.
Leo Douglas Steik, 77
Leo Douglas Steik died Oct. 23 at home in Ninilchik, Alaska. Mr. Steik was born May 7, 1930, in Ninilchik Village. He joined the U.S. Army on Aug. 21, 1952, serving in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Steik enjoyed a long and successful career in Alaska's seafood canneries. He was a member of American Legion Post 18 in Ninilchik for 42 years. According to his family, Mr. Steik enjoyed subsistence fishing and moose hunting. He is survived by his loving companion and caregiver, Marianne Murto; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marian Hostetter, Doris and Carl Kelly and Shirley and Glen Warner; brothers and sister-in-law, Mike and JoAnn, Eugene, Alvin, John and Carl; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
