ROBERT W. RUDE
Robert Rude, an Athabascan, is a self-employed writer. He served on the CIRI board from 1972 to 1984, and from 1996 to the present. Rude's current three-year term ends in 2011. He currently serves on the Board's Executive Committee.
Rude served on the CIRI Board as second vice president from 1972 to 1974, first vice president from 1974 to 1984 and secretary from 2004 to 2005. He also served on the CIRI Board's Land Committee during the Cook Inlet Land Exchange, helping to secure productive lands for the company.
Rude graduated from Anchorage High School in 1957. He played for four years in the all-Alaska high school basketball finals, winning a championship and most valuable player award in 1957.
Rude was appointed by the October 1966 Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) convention to represent unorganized Athabascan villages. He worked as the AFN coordinator from 1970 to 1972. Rude served as a director of Cook Inlet Native Association (CINA) from 1970 to 1975, and as CINA president from 1972 to 1975 and 1978 to 1983.
Rude was the president and general manager of Cook Inlet Properties Inc., a CIRI subsidiary, from 1975 to 1980. He worked for CIRI as a senior vice president from 1980 to 1984.
Rude is a former director of Home Federal Savings and Loan, Alaskan of the Year Board, Crime Stoppers Inc., Anchorage Native Assembly, United Christian Fellowship and the AFN Human Resources Board. He is a former Board president of Southcentral Foundation, Cook Inlet Tribal Council and The CIRI Foundation.
