Cultural Heritage

The value of Cultural Heritage demonstrates our pride in our Alaska Native history and traditions. It represents pride in our past and hope for our future. In demonstrating our value of Cultural Heritage, we will conduct ourselves in the following manner:

Preservation

CIRI believes that the wealth of a community lies not only in the financial resources that it has, but also in the richness of its treasured traditions and history. We strengthen our dynamic and growing cultural heritage by supporting organizations and individuals who improve Native cultural awareness and advance Native cultural traditions. We record Alaska Native history, promote public knowledge of Alaska Native success stories, and support efforts to safeguard cultural resources.

Contribution

CIRI invests in important cultural and social institutions and activities that benefit the entire community such as the Alaska Native Heritage Center, which is a major Alaska cultural institution where visitors can learn about and experience Native cultures. CIRI also supports individual artists and talent through art collections and other cultural organizations.
