Gladys Adkison died July 16, at the Alaska Native Medical Center
in Anchorage. Ms. Adkison was born July 3, 1937, in Nome, Alaska.
She is survived by her husband, Harlan Adkison; daughters, Beverly
Burkhalter, Cynthia Sears and husband, David; sons, Gregg Baldwin,
Michael and wife, Denise Drake, and Ronald and wife, Sandra Drake;
grandchildren, Aaron, Amanda, Erica, Jason, Lauren, Matthew, Ryan,
Stephanie, and Willie; great-grandchildren Alexandria, Brooke, and
Zacharias; and brother, Thomas Drake.
Nicholas Anthony Atkinson, 54
Nicholas Anthony Atkinson died July 3, in Gainesville, Fla. Mr.
Atkinson was born Oct. 7, 1950, in San Francisco, Calif. He is survived
by his wife, Bonnie Atkinson; and sons, Cory A. Atkinson and Daniel
M. Atkinson.
Frances (a.k.a. Frankie) Eliza Doulin, 62
Frances Eliza Doulin died June 18, at home in Anchorage. Ms. Doulin
was born Dec. 11, 1942, in Mekoryuk, Alaska. She is survived by
her fiancé, Daniel James; dog, Tuffy; and many friends in
the Anchorage community.
Ted Smith Kroto Jr., 25
Ted Smith Kroto Jr. died Aug. 3, at home in Soldotna. Mr. Kroto
was born Aug. 20, 1979, in Anchorage. He is survived by his wife,
Gina Cole-Kroto; daughter, Lillian Kroto; son, Brandon Kroto; father,
Ted S. Kroto Sr.; sisters, Jessica Grimaldi, Vanessa Kroto, Dyann
Leuret, and Ivory Trenton; brothers, David Kroto and Justin Trenton;
and grandparents, Adam and Violet Kroto and David and Virginia Trenton.
Sally Marie Murillo, 79
Sally Marie Murillo died June 16, in Redmond, Wash. Ms. Murillo
was born Dec. 7, 1925, in Kenai. She is survived by her son, Duniel
Murillo.
Joseph Gregory Oskolkoff, 86
Joseph Gregory Oskolkoff died May 2, at the Alaska Native Medical
Center in Anchorage. Mr. Oskolkoff was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Ninilchik,
Alaska. He is survived by his daughters, Melanya Berg, Masha Hughton,
Beverly Oskolkoff, Selma Oskolkoff-Simon, Lenora Shaffer, and Carol
Smith; and sons, Kenton Oskolkoff and Robert Oskolkoff.
Walter "Emuk" Outwater Sr., 85
Walter "Emuk" Outwater Sr. was born in Noorvik on
Nov. 24, 1919, to Ruby Outwater and Murphy Johnson. He was raised
as a loving son to Ruby and Clay Outwater. Said Walter of his
wife, Ruth, "I trusted her in everything. In the early
times of our marriage, I knew that she would be okay, knowing
that the home and our children would be taken care of."
They were married on Sept. 22, 1938 in Candle. Walter became
a pastoral student at the Evangelical Covenant Church and was
dedicated at the Wales yearly conference in 1960. He received
his Pastor's Certificate and a congratulatory recognition from
Gov. William Egan. Walter moved his family to Anchorage in 1969
where he worked for the Anchorage School District at West High
School as a maintenance technician. While working there he started
and faithfully served as pastor for the Anchorage Friends Church
until he retired from his pastorship. While fishing on the Yukon
River, he heard a message on KICY that he was elected to be
Superintendent of the Alaska Yearly meeting at Kotzebue in 1983.
After accepting the position, he served as Superintendent for
four years, went to pastor at Deering and Nome, and re-retired
in 1992. |
