| The CIRI
Foundation’s Eligibility Guidelines
Since it was established in 1982, The CIRI Foundation has awarded
more than 5,000 scholarships totaling more than $5 million in financial
aid to CIRI original enrollees and their descendants. There are
no Alaska residency requirements, but applicants must meet the general
criteria set by the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
The CIRI Foundation awards scholarships to Alaska Natives who are
original CIRI enrollees and their lineal descendants as defined
by the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971 (ANCSA). The
foundation also awards education grants for vocational training,
career upgrades and internships. Below is a list of Alaska Native
enrollment eligibility requirements as related to scholarship and/or
grants:
- CIRI original enrollee or lineal descendant for The CIRI Foundation
scholarships and grants
- Kenai Natives Association for KNA scholarships and grants
- Ninilchik Native Association for NNAI scholarships and grants
- Salamatof Native Association and spouses for SNAI scholarships
and grants
- Tyonek Native Corporation and Native Village of Tyonek for
TNC scholarships and grants
- Any ANCSA regional or village corporation for The CIRI Foundation
Cap Lathrop Scholarship, preference given to Native original CIRI
enrollees and descendants
