Marrs Named to Business Hall of Fame

The Junior Achievement of Alaska Business Hall of Fame inducted Carl Marrs, along with four other Alaskans, last month. The non-profit organization teaches elementary and secondary students about free enterprise. Marrs, who joined CIRI in 1973 as a land trainee, realized the importance of education as a former commercial fisherman with a GED education. Over the years, he has been a champion of philanthropy, particularly in the areas of youth and education. The 19th Business Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the Alaska economy.

A Welcome Home

CIRI shareholder Evelyn Bernice Betz is happy to report that her eldest son, SPC Christopher Donald Ross, is returning home from Iraq soon. Ross, an E-4, has been in the Army since 1998 and stationed in Iraq since March 2004. He and his wife Ronnie have three sons, Ryan, Dustin and Alex, and two daughters, Kaitlyn and Shelby.

Leggett Begins Second Deployment

CIRI shareholder and Cryptologic Technician Technical Third Class Petty Officer Adam J. Leggett begins an around-the-world deployment on board the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. The aircraft carrier departed Jan. 13 from its homeport of Bremerton, Wash., on a cruise to its new home in Norfolk, Va., with an expected arrival in July. This will be Petty Officer Leggett’s second deployment, and it is with much anticipation and zeal. He says he’s proud to serve his country. Leggett is the son of CIRI shareholder Diane Buls and brother to CIRI employee Aaron Leggett as well as CIRI shareholder Angela Leggett.

Harmon Recovering

Nicole Harmon, grandaughter of Mary Lou Bottorff, is still recovering from a 2003 December automobile accident. Her family thanks everyone from Alaska, the Lower 48 and Hawaii for their prayer chains and support. Nicole is in therapy and back to high school and she will be graduating in May.

Baby Mack

CIRI shareholder Judy Mack proudly announces the arrival of her first granddaughter, Katrina Leilani Mack, born Nov. 11. Katrina weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 19 inches. She is the daughter of Katrina Rose Mack.
