CIRI Alaska Tourism is currently recruiting summer
employees for Kenai Fjords Tours, Prince William Sound Cruises &
Tours, Seward Windsong Lodge, Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, Anchorage
RV Park, and the Helly Hansen store in Seward.
CIRI shareholders and descendants are strongly encouraged to apply
for a variety of fun and challenging positions. CIRI Alaska Tourism
is looking for Alaska Native shareholders and descendants to share
information about the various Alaska Native cultures and knowledge
of the state to provide visitors a unique and special look at Alaska.
Although the positions don’t usually begin until April and
May, interviewing and hiring are going on now. “We try to
have most of our positions filled by mid-March so the managers can
accurately plan for the season,” said Kelly Bender, a CIRI
Alaska Tourism recruiter. She suggests applying now.

Hospitality and Tourism Training Opportunities
| The Hospitality and Tourism
Career Institute (HTCI) is a vocational technical education program
operated by Cook Inlet Tribal Council. HTCI’s mission is to
provide education, training, and job placement opportunities in
the hospitality and tourism industry for Alaska Natives and American
Indians 17 years of age and older. Classes are tuition-free to eligible
candidates.
Training and education offered through HTCI prepares individuals
for employment in the industry with skills and credentials in customer
service, visitor interaction and problem solving, hotel front desk
operations, and espresso/barrista training. The “Warranty
of Employability” training is a three-week course which consists
of communication skills, job readiness skills, resume writing, entrepreneurship,
interviewing skills, dressing for success, and goal setting. Field
trips and job shadowing at different sites throughout Anchorage,
Seward, and the Palmer/Wasilla area provide an introduction to the
various jobs within the hospitality and tourism industry. HTCI has
also expanded services to include on-line educational programs in
the hospitality and tourism industry.

Southcentral Foundation Seeks Manager of Public Relations
| CIRI shareholders and descendants
are strongly encouraged to apply for the position of manager of
public relations at Southcentral Foundation. This position reports
to the public relations director and is responsible for management
of the corporate-wide public relations program to ensure compliance
with Southcentral Foundation’s messaging and image strategies.
Duties include developing and managing the official logo standards;
working with management to design, produce, and distribute internal
and external newsletters and assist with news releases; working
with management to organize, produce, and manage meetings, conferences,
and gatherings; and working with the public relations director to
implement the organization’s public relations plan to maintain
consistent messaging. The requirements for this position are a bachelor’s
degree or combination of relevant education and experience; one
year of management experience; three years of communications and/or
public relations experience; excellent written, oral and facilitation
skills; ability to establish effective working relationships with
local and statewide media; ability to work effectively in a team
and to perform with minimum supervision; proficiency in the use
of computer-based software for word processing and graphic design;
and knowledge of the 1974 Privacy Act is desired. Resumes and a
