AVTEC Provides Job Training

The Alaska Vocational Technical Center, a division of the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development, has been educating Alaskans for good jobs in business and industry for more than 30 years. AVTEC’s mission is to provide Alaskans with the very best career training available, and to make sure that Alaska’s companies have a secure and steady source of high-quality employees for their long-range success.

AVTEC students can choose from comprehensive programs in nearly 20 different fields, each with industry-approved certifications and/or licenses. Each program emphasizes small classes, hands-on instruction, and one-on-one assistance to meet training needs. The job placement rate for graduates is over 98 percent. The tuition fees are affordable and financial assistance and support services are available. Graduates are Alaskan mechanics, chefs, EMTs, industrial electricians, health care providers, ship’s captains, welders, construction and maintenance specialists, physical plant technicians, information technicians, accounting clerks, administrative assistants, and power plant operators.
