APU Provides Opportunity to Non-Profit Professionals
The Organizational Management Degree with a Non-Profit Emphasis is available through Alaska Pacific University’s Rural Alaska Native Adult (RANA) Distance Education Program. Classes for fall 2004 begin on August 17.

This program, a partnership of APU’s Business Administration Department, the RANA Distance Education Program, and the Foraker Group, allows non-profit professionals an opportunity to complete their college degree. RANA students visit campus twice a year for a week-long residency to meet fellow students, faculty, and staff, and visit classes. Then they return to their communities and complete their courses via electronic communication, such as web-based classes with chat rooms, discussion boards, and e-mail. Students are oriented to the web site and technology needs during each residency.
Foraker has also identified mentors who work individually with each student pursuing organizational management degree with the non-profit emphasis to assure a productive and successful college experience.

For more information, visit the Foraker Group’s web site at www.forakergroup.org and click on Educational Opportunities. Information on APU, tuition, schedules or other program details is available by contacting http://rana.alaskapacific.edu or by calling Annette Zella at 1-800-252-7528, ext 8222.

Alaska’s People Makes a Move
Cook Inlet Tribal Council reminds the CIRI community that Alaska’s People has moved. Alaska’s People is the Cook Inlet Tribal Council division that provides job referral and training services to Alaska Natives and American Indians. It is now located in CITC’s main building at 670 West Fireweed Lane in Anchorage.

The space, formerly occupied by Southcentral Foundation’s Optometry and Dental clinics, improves accessibility for job-seekers and fosters further cooperation between Alaska’s People and opportunities provided by other CITC departments. This coordination is consistent with CITC’s commitment to offering an array of services to area families.

In 2003, nearly 4,300 Alaskans worked with the department, earning positions in the public and private sectors. Almost one third of those placed were affiliated with CIRI. In 2004, CITC hopes that its new location will help attract even more Alaskan job-seekers and employers.
