| The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas opened to the public with a
ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 14. The opening coincided with The
Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas hosting the only American showing of
an international diamond exhibit called "Diamonds & the
Power of Love." The exhibit showcases 700 carats of diamond
jewelry valued at approximately $10 million. In addition to the
5,000 people who visited the exhibit, the ribbon-cutting and party
that followed received local, national and international media coverage.
The Ritz-Carlton offers 350 rooms, two ballrooms, meeting facilities,
a luxury spa, casino and two swimming pools. In January, the Nevada
Gaming Commission approved CIRI's application for registration as
a holding company for its ownership interest in the Casino MonteLago,
located at the property.
The Ritz-Carlton and Casino MonteLago are part of an architecturally
integrated retail village and 170-unit condominium project. Composed
of three main outdoor pedestrian streets, plazas and waterfront
areas, the village offers guests a variety of shopping and dining
alternatives, all designed to reflect the atmosphere of a small
Italian village.
This is CIRI's second investment at Lake Las Vegas, a state-of-the-art
resort and residential community designed around a beautiful 320-acre
lake in the Nevada desert. CIRI also is an investor in the Hyatt
Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort, a 500-room hotel catering to group
and meeting business and independent vacation travelers, which opened
in December 1999.
