Zachary Lemm with his award winning cabbage
Seven-year-old Zachary Lemm won first place in the Alaska State Fair's giant cabbage contest junior division with a 60-pound, 9-ounce cabbage, which he named Shredder. Among all 49 cabbages entered, Shredder was judged fifth for the biggest and best overall. Zachary fed the award-winning cabbage compost, milk and cheerios. The son of Bering Straits Native Corp. shareholder Phyllis Oliveri and Rob Lemm, Zachary learned everything he needed to know about growing giant cabbage from his dad. Last year he won second place for a 47-pound cabbage. Zachary, who is a second grader at Meadow Lakes Elementary School, is the grandson of CIRI shareholder Louise Todd and Bering Straits shareholder Edward Topkok, Sr.
