Native Foster Homes Needed
According to the State of Alaska Office of Childrens Services, there
are nearly 2,000 Alaska children not living at home because of abuse
or neglect. Sixty percent of these children are Alaska Native. If
a child cannot stay at home because it is not safe, it is best if
they can be with relatives or other Alaska Native families. These
children need to learn Native traditions, values and culture. If
you are interested in becoming an Alaska Native foster parent or
to find out how else you can help, contact the Alaska Foster Parent
Training Center at (800) 478-7307.
