& Land Specialist
This position provides Geographic Information System
(GIS) services for land management activities in CIRI’s Real
Estate department. Duties include administering, maintaining, developing
and implementing the automated mapping and relational database system
(CIRI-LIS) and all spatial data associated with land management
activities. Applicants should have a working knowledge of the Alaska
Native Claims Settlement Act and the Alaska National Interest Lands
Conservation Act; working knowledge of land record systems, land
surveying, legal descriptions and platting, and the ability to interpret
land status information; knowledge of principles of geography/cartography,
including procedures, techniques, nomenclature, and operation of
GIS data acquisition including digitizing, automated mapping, and
database design and maintenance. Minimum Experience for this position
includes a bachelor’s degree in geographical information systems,
geography information systems, land management, administration or
a closely related field; or an associate degree with additional
GIS certificate; or any combination of training and experience that
provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities; and two years
of progressively responsible experience in managing or administering,
maintaining, and implementing automated mapping and/or GIS systems
preferred.
