CIRI Interns Provide Summer Support While Gaining Experience (Written by CIRI intern Anna Smith)
Promoting the educational and career goals of CIRI shareholders and their families is an important priority for the corporation. As part of that commitment, CIRI's internship program places students in different departments throughout the company, as well as with non-profit affiliates and subsidiaries to gain valuable on-the-job experience.

To accommodate academic schedules, the majority of the students are employed as summer hire. For many college students, the summer season is an important time to make and save money for their upcoming school year. CIRI's summer internship program is designed to help these college students with their summer employment needs while offering work experience.

"Today, Alaska Native college students come from all walks of life and age ranges. Yet, they all
have one thing in common: the desire to achieve their college degrees at the undergraduate or graduate level and to, ultimately, fulfill their dreams and important career goals," said CIRI shareholder Anna Smith, a public relations intern.

Currently, CIRI has a total of 19 people working as interns and temporary employees. This group of promising employees includes: Hallie Bissett, Jessica Bissett, Tamara Bock, George Dixon, Colleen Fleek, Anthony Kiana, Danielle Larsen, Diane Lawrence, Judy Mack, Shampagne Magee, Rodney McCord, Naomi Miller, Sherlyn Mullins, Paneen Petersen, Anna Smith, Leesa Straley, Ryan Weldin, Mary Anne Woods, and Linda Yingling.

Check out www.ciri.com and you will find a new and expanded CIRI web site designed to better serve CIRI shareholders and others interested in surfing the Internet for information on the corporation and shareholder services.

"Increasing communication with CIRI shareholders is extremely important to me, and I see an expanded and constantly evolving web site as a great way to communicate on-line with our shareholders," said CIRI President and CEO Carl Marrs.

The new CIRI Home Page gives browsers quick access to the following categories: Newsletter, Shareholder Information, About CIRI, Job Opportunities, and In the News. The Newsletter section is an on-line archive and includes each of the 1999 Shareholder Update issues. Click on Shareholder Information and this is where you can browse for shareholder services, a calendar of events, annual meeting information, and the latest dividend announcements.

About CIRI includes a corporate profile and information about CIRI's subsidiaries and joint ventures; board member and executive staff profiles; CIRI's non-profit affiliates and their web links; CIRI financials and dividend history; and information about the creation of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act and CIRI's shareholder make-up.

CIRI Job Opportunities as well as available positions at CIRI subsidiaries and non-profits are easily accessible, while a link to Alaska's People provides further information on job placement and referrals. And In the News includes copies of news releases announcing the latest and historical information on CIRI and its activities.

In addition to these main sections, there is an Index for easy surfing, a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section, a virtual on-line Merchandise catalogue, links to Other Sites, and a place to Contact Us with your comments and questions for CIRI.

The new CIRI web site will be updated regularly and continue to expand over time.
