The decision to attend college or a vocational school is an important one that can make a great deal of difference to a person's quality of life. CIRI believes in and is supportive of the educational, training and career goals of its shareholders and their descendants. As a result, the CIRI college internship program places students in various departments throughout the company, as well as with non-profit affiliates and subsidiaries, to gain useful and practical on-the-job experience.

For many students, the summer season is an important time to work and save money. To accommodate their unique schedules, the majority of the interns are employed as summer hires or on a temporary, part-time basis. This summer, there are 11 interns as well as temporary employees at the company, and they include: Hallie Bissett, Jessica Bissett, Danielle Erkmann, Justin Hatton, Naomi
Miller, Michelle Mullins, Zack Munsterman, Anna Smith, Doug Williams, Jason Williams and Mary Anne Woods.

Planning for the future, Native pride and taking care of others are three important themes CIRI hopes to instill into the minds of the community when it debuts a television and print campaign next month.

The campaign is also being developed to increase awareness among residents of the Cook Inlet region of CIRI's economic and philanthropic contributions to the community.Smiling Girl 1

"People know we are a Native corporation, but they really don't understand what that means or how much of an impact CIRI has on the larger community," said CIRI President and CEO Carl Marrs. "We want Alaskans to know that CIRI not only has economic and social obligations to our shareholders, but that we are dedicated to a prospering community which in turn benefits our own shareholders."
