The 2000 CIRI Golf Classic, held Friday, August 4th, at Moose Run Golf Course, raised the largest amount of money in the tournament's 16-year history. More than $100,000 was raised for scholarships, grants and internships awarded to CIRI original enrollees and their descendants by The CIRI Foundation.

One hundred forty-four participants played in the tournament. The dedicated golfers played in the pouring rain and managed to have a tremendous amount of fun. Money was raised through entry fees of $250 per person. Contributions and sponsorships from numerous businesses helped underwrite the cost of the tournament and raised additional funds for The CIRI Foundation.
Susan Anderson  Susan Anderson, president and CEO of The CIRI Foundation, speaks at the 2000 CIRI Golf Classic Banquet.
"I would like to thank the Anchorage community and this year's tournament co-chairs, Bill Allen, chairman of CMI, and Mike O'Connor, president of Peak Oilfield Services Co., for their outstanding support of the tournament," said Dawn Dinwoodie, tournament director. "Bill and Mike were instrumental in raising awareness of and funds for the event. Their efforts
and the community's commitment to education have made this tournament one of the premier events in Anchorage."
