Cook Inlet Tribal Council administers a variety of educational services through the Cook Inlet Tribal Education Center, located in Anchorage at 3600 Lake Otis Parkway, Suite 203.

¥ The Tribal Higher Education Program addresses the post-secondary educational needs of CIRI tribal members. The supplemental financial program helps CIRI shareholders and their descendants earn an associateÕs or bachelorÕs degree regardless of residency at an accredited college or university. Students from Tyonek, Ninilchik, Kenai, Chickaloon, Knik and Salamatoff must apply directly to their tribal councils. For more information about the program or eligibility, contact Donna Sallee, placement and funding officer, at 1-877-985-5900, ext. 5904, or in Anchorage at (907) 265-5904.

¥ The Alaska Native Teachers for Excellence Project is a partnership program with The
CIRI Foundation and Anchorage School District to increase the number of Alaska Native Teachers employed within the Anchorage School District. To date, 44 Alaska Native teachers have been hired by the Anchorage School District as a result of the project. The grant also provides funding to develop seventh grade Alaska studies curriculum that will be used by the Anchorage School District. Visit www.akhistory.org, or for more information, call (907) 265-7919.

¥ The Youth Enrichment Program focuses on increasing the success rate for Alaska Natives from rural Alaska and Native Americans attending the University of Alaska Anchorage. Highlights of the program include small UAA accredited classes, tutors, a computer lab and counselors on hand to advise students about financial aid, classes or college life. For more information call (907) 265-5907.
Cook Inlet Tribal CouncilÕs Education Department is also seeing some positive additions. Beginning this school year, a Department of Education Title IX program will be implemented to assist Alaska Natives and Native American high school students pass the stateÕs new high school exit exam. The graduating exit exam affects studentsÕ eligibility to receive their diploma or just a certificate of attendance. During the programÕs first year, CITC will focus on four designated schools in the Anchorage School District. For more
