| In November, a partnership between CIRI and VoiceStream Wireless Corp. launched personal communications services (PCS) in Dallas and Ft. Worth, Texas, under the VoiceStream brand name. The introduction of VoiceStream's pricing strategy and international roaming capabilities brings additional, aggressive wireless phone competition to Texas. |
| CIRI's diversified business investments and ventures focus on several business segments, including wireless telephone service. In 1994, CIRI teamed with VoiceStream Wireless Corp. to create Cook Inlet /VoiceStream PCS, joint ventures that provide PCS throughout the United States. Cook Inlet/ VoiceStream has acquired numerous broadband PCS licenses and currently provides wireless communication services in major markets including Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Philadelphia, Miami, Seattle, Phoenix and Tulsa. |
Unlike other providers, Cook Inlet/VoiceStream and VoiceStream Wireless use the globally dominant Global System for Mobile (GSM) communications system. Adopted by 159 countries, GSM is the most widely used digital wireless standard in the world with more than 380 million subscribers. GSM gives customers the choice of using their number and full digital features when traveling internationally. |
CIRI Alaska Tourism Offers New Packages

| CIRI Alaska Tourism is offering a number of soft adventure packages for the 2001 summer season, including a Kenai Fjords package and the Best of Denali. The Kenai Fjords package includes a one-night stay at the Seward Windsong Lodge, a Kenai Fjords National Park cruise, followed by a ride on the Wildlife Express rail car to Anchorage. The Best of Denali offers flightseeing near Mt. McKinley, rail transportation to Denali National Park, a dinner show, and overnight accommodations at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge and a hotel near the park entrance.
