Keith Stanford: Tourism Applications Specialist
As the applications specialist for CIRI's tourism department, Keith Stanford de-mystifies computers and applications; he works with new software programs and helps to keep tourism's computers and applications in tip-top shape. Since computer technology changes by the minute, Stanford is always adapting to recent software program updates. Prior to working for CIRI, he worked for ARCO Alaska, Inc. for nine years, five of those as a systems analyst.
Stanford graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with both a bachelor of business administration in management information systems and an associates of applied science in business computer information systems. Eventually, he plans to apply to Alaska Pacific University's Master of Business Administration (MBA) program.

A member of CIRI, Kenaitze Indian Tribe and Kenai Native Association, Stanford was born in Kenai and raised by his parents Lonzy and Beatrice. He currently lives in Anchorage and has three brothers and one sister who all live in Alaska. He describes the Kenai of his childhood as having a pleasant, small-town atmosphere with a population of about 3,000 people and a unique history. His childhood home was in Old Towne Kenai and just across the road from the Old Russian Church, which was built in 1896 - a national historical landmark. Next to it is an even older church built by the Russian American Company in 1841. Also, his home wasn't too far from the mouth of the Kenai River where he often spent time fishing.

These days, when he has the time, Stanford likes to camp, hunt, fish and snowmachine around the Kenai Peninsula. He says that he likes the small-town atmosphere that Kenai still has because "everywhere you go someone knows you. It's a close-knit community where neighbors help each other out."
