| A series of financial planning workshops will be offered to shareholders interested in information about planning for the future.
"Our goal is to make sure shareholders have viewed all options available to them when they make choices on how to use this money," said Carl Marrs, CIRI president and CEO. "Some shareholders may not have access to trained people to do investment planning. Financial education is an important piece of the distribution." Topics to be discussed will include an introduction to stocks, bonds and mutual funds, a primer on how to use the distribution to help buy a home, basic banking and money management skills, organization of finances, and the potential impact of the distribution on social services and income tax considerations. Following the workshops, representatives of TIAA-CREF, National Bank of Alaska/Wells Fargo, and the CIRI non-profit organizations will be available to answer questions. TIAA-CREF is a leading provider of financial services for individuals. For over 80 years TIAA-CREF has been providing financial services and is a not-for-profit organization. National Bank of Alaska/Wells Fargo is a leading banking institution with offices throughout Alaska and in the Lower 48. Individual appointments with financial planning advisors will be scheduled at the workshops. Childcare and light refreshments will also be available at each location. |
