LET'S GET TO BUSINESS

Nominating Committee Seeks Applicants for CIRI Board Slate
The CIRI nominating committee is seeking shareholders interested in being considered for nomination to the 2002 CIRI board-endorsed slate of candidates for the 2002 CIRI Proxy. Directors are responsible for initiating and developing the policies that further the goals of the company, while addressing the economic, social and cultural needs of the shareholders.

Based upon its review of each application and interviews with selected applicants, the nominating committee recommends potential candidates to the CIRI board of directors. Based upon the recommendations of the nominating committee, and the board's own independent review, the board makes the final selection of five candidates to comprise the CIRI board-endorsed slate.

Any applicant who is not selected for the board-endorsed slate may conduct his or her own separate campaign for the board of directors, which must be in compliance with Alaska law and the state's proxy regulations as well as CIRI's Election Procedures and Rules of Conduct for Shareholder Meetings. A copy of these procedures and rules may be obtained from CIRI's Shareholder Relations department or downloaded from the CIRI website at www.ciri.com.

Board candidates must be at least 18 years of age and a voting CIRI shareholder. The nominating committee seeks candidates with demonstrated decision-making, leadership and communication skills as well as honesty and integrity. Knowledge of business operations, involvement in Native issues, and a college degree or equivalent business experience are other favored attributes.

All shareholders, including incumbents, interested in being considered for the CIRI board-endorsed slate must request, complete and return a Candidate Information and Disclosure Questionnaire by Jan. 31, 2002. The questionnaire is on the CIRI website at www.ciri.com or available by request from CIRI Shareholder Relations. They may be reached by phone at 274-8638 in Anchorage or (800) 764-2474 outside Anchorage, via email at webmaster@ciri.com or by writing to PO Box 93330, Anchorage, AK 99509-3330.
