The holiday season is a joyous time of year, and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This issue of the newsletter is dedicated to CIRI's history and to 30 years of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. We at CIRI have had a very good run with our corporation over these last three decades.

Most recently, a substantial portion of the corporation's assets has been distributed to shareholders. We hope to rebuild in the coming 10 to 15 years, and are working on some ideas for how to approach the tough burden taxation will impose on us.

We look forward to a period of re-building, and hope to work toward another round of success and eventually to further distributions.

We focus on giving in this season, but it's impossible not to take some time for gratitude. I am grateful for all of you, and I look forward to a prosperous 2002.
