Allen Bismark-Nickanorka Called to Serve
After three years of study, CIRI shareholder Allen Bismark-Nickanorka recently became a certified minister from the Assemblies of God General Council. Certification shows he successfully completed courses in Bible study, theology, history, sermon preparation and marriage and family issues. Bismark-Nikanorka said, "It's my heart's desire to help the hurt and needy people bound by drugs and alcohol. It is a joy to reach my goal and a dream come true." Bismark-Nickanorka also preaches on the national television show "We Win," and at the Anchorage Rescue Mission. He attends the North Star Assembly of God Church in Mountain View and is a chaplain at the Alaska Native Medical Center. He is employed by the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium.
Melanie Eckart Working at Northern Quest Casino
CIRI shareholder Melanie Eckart is working at Northern Quest Casino in Airway Heights, Wash. She is the daughter of CIRI shareholder Eleanor DeRoque and her father is Alton Beach. She is the lead revenue auditor specialist in the accounting department. She has two sons, James, who is 12, and Jesse, who is 5.

Baby Logan
Logan Patrick Hames was born on Sept. 11, 2000, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. He weighed seven pounds, six ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Logan is the son of CIRI shareholder Joseph Hames and his wife Karrie. Logan joins sister Brittanie Danyelle, who was also born at Providence Hospital, on Jan. 22, 1999. Brittanie was six pounds and 18 inches at birth.

Lauri Kidd named Mrs. Alaska United States
CIRI shareholder Lauri Kidd was recently named Mrs. Alaska United States. Kidd was one of six contestants from Alaska to compete in this year's pageant. She will compete with 52 other contestants in the 15th Annual Mrs. United States pageant in Las Vegas in late July. Contestants are judged based on intelligence, ability to articulate, beauty, poise and charm. Good luck, Lauri.

James Oksoktaruk finishes Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon
James Oksoktaruk, a CIRI shareholder and Cook Inlet Housing Authority eligibility technician, recently competed in and finished the Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage on June 23. He finished the 26-mile marathon in three hours and one minute, placing 17th overall in the men's division among some 2,800 runners in the marathon. An accomplished athlete, he regularly competes in local skiing and running competitions. He is the proud father of two children, Alice, who is 8 and Forest, who is 5.

Rene F. McCord Graduates from Job Corps
CIRI shareholder Rene F. McCord graduated from the Job Corps Center on Friday, June 8, in Palmer. She graduated with a specialty in facilities maintenance and found a job with the help of Job Corps. McCord has two children, Emelio, who is four, and Alycea, who is two. She is the daughter of CIRI shareholder Beverly McCord and the late John F. Hash.

Raina D. Thiele Graduates
CIRI descendant Raina Diane Thiele recently graduated from Houston Jr./Sr. High School in Houston, Alaska. She is the daughter of CIRI shareholder Carl Thiele and Sarah of Big Lake, Alaska; granddaughter of Gus and Mary Jensen of Pedro Bay and CIRI shareholder Carl Thiele and his wife June of Alexander Creek. She has been accepted to Yale University.

Tiedeman and Kelbatyrov Wed
CIRI shareholder Natasha Tiedeman and George Kelbatyrov were married Oct. 14, 2000, at the Shasta Lake Dam in Shasta Lake City, Calif. Natasha is the daughter of Ruth Vo'well and Fred Tiedeman and granddaughter of Katherine Steed.
