Marrs Ranked #6 Among Most Powerful Alaskans
CIRI President and Chief Executive Officer Carl Marrs was selected the sixth most powerful Alaskan among the Alaska Journal of Commerce's "Top 25 Most Powerful Alaskans of 2001."

According to Mark Turner, general manager of the Journal, the list consists of special Alaskans who helped shape the major events of last year in the state.

The Journal's editorial staff selects some 100 semifinalists, while a selection committee made up of influential Alaskan citizens actually selects and ranks the top 25. Rankings are based on admiration or respect, public recognition, and the individual's impact in 2001 on Alaska and its citizens for today and the future.

Marrs, the only Native corporation executive on the list, was recognized for continuing to build CIRI following a year of record dividend payouts, while remaining personally active in public service work to help all Alaskans.

CIRI shareholder and former board member Janie Leask was ranked 16th place for her community activism.
