CIRI Shareholder Participates in National Leadership Program
CIRI shareholder Allison Knox is one of 16 Native Americans nationwide chosen to participate in the 1999 class of the American Indian Ambassadors Program. The highly selective program Ð 16 candidates are chosen out of a field of 100 nominees Ð is based on traditional cultural and tribal values that escort promising young Native American professionals through a one-year program aimed at reinforcing the use of their cultural and tribal values in modern context.

Throughout the year-long program, ambassadors representing a variety of American Indian cultural backgrounds attend four one-week gatherings providing a creative combination of mentorship, personal reflection, dialogue with national decision-makers, community involvement, communications training and a discovery process into tribal values.

ÒEach ambassador exemplifies the mission that we as Indian People have worked so hard for in maintaining our cultural and political autonomy as a transplanted world grew around us. The results are young professional Indians possessing commitment and dedication to their communities and the continuation of traditional cultural values and lifeways,Ó said LaDonna Harris, president and founder of Americans for Indian Opportunity.
