Accounting Clerk
General Functions: Assists in processing corporate, shareholder distribution, and employee accounts payables, bank reconciliations, and account analysis. Prepares cash receipts for deposit, completes deposit slips, and other duties as assigned.
Skills/abilities: This position requires neat and legible handwriting and speedy use of calculators, typewriter and computer terminal. Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Experience: Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures with a strong emphasis in accounts payable. One or two years college education and one year practical experience in accounting or two years progressively responsible accounting experience; or any combination of education and experience to equal two years.
CIRI Internships
CIRI is accepting resumes for the 1999 CIRI Summer Intern Program as well as seasonal, summer employment. This year, a variety of positions ranging from grounds keeping to administrative support are anticipated. If you are interested in summer employment at CIRI please submit a resume and brief cover letter indicating the type of position you would like to be considered for through the program.
CIRI is committed to promoting education among shareholders and has offered summer internships since 1996. The program is designed to provide valuable skills and work experience, while earning money for school, through placements within CIRI and its affiliates. Justice Careers Seminar
The Alaska Native Justice Center and UAA Justice Center are pleased to offer a Justice Careers Seminar to be held May 16-28. The Justice Careers Seminar is a 2-week program introducing Alaska Native college students to careers in justice. The program is designed in recognition that few Alaska Natives hold career positions in the justice system. Students will learn about the nature of and qualifications necessary for justice system positions. The intensive seminar includes both classroom instruction and tours through Anchorage-area justice institutions. The application deadline is April 2, 199. 1999 Alaska Native Youth Media Institute Seeks Applicants
The Koahnic Broadcast Corporation Training Center is seeking applicants to participate in the 1999 Alaska Native Youth Media Institute, open to 15 Alaska Native and Native American students in grades 10 through 12.
The one-week Institute is a unique opportunity for students interested in media careers to participate in a mix of intensive courses taught by the country's top media professionals. Students focus their learning in one of the following areas: radio production, television/video production, production of print news media, and photojournalism.
The 1999 Alaska Native Youth Media Institute will be held in Anchorage June 5 through 12, 1999. All training workshops are conducted in the studios of KNBA 90.3 FM, the country's first urban Native radio station, or on the campus of Alaska Pacific University. The application deadline is April 2, 1999.

U.S. Department of Interior Internships
The U.S. Department of Interior hopes to increase diversity in their work force by providing internship opportunities to qualified Native American students. A ten-week summer internship provides professional experience to enable students to make educated career choices. A variety of intern placements within various disciplines are anticipated, including:

All applicants must be a currently enrolled student, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, completed their freshman year of college by June 1999, and be a member of a federally recognized Indian tribe.
The internship period is from May 31 to August 6 with round-trip travel provided. Stipends are determined by academic status, and initial assistance in locating suitable housing within the intern's budget will be available. The deadline for applicants is March 31, 1999.
