CIRI shareholder Sophie Minich and her husband Henry became the proud parents of Madisen born December 7 at 1:33 p.m. Madisen is the first child of Sophie and Henry and weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces at birth.

Cassidy and Trefon Wed
Ruth Ann Cassidy and William "Billy" Trefon, Jr., of Nondalton eloped January 1 and married during a ceremony held at the Mary Conrad Center in Anchorage.
 
The couple married in the presence of the bride's chudda, Sava Stephan, Sr., who gave them his blessing in Dena'ina. Donita Peters commissioned the ceremony, while witnesses included Ron and Frieda McCord, Sr. Ruth is the daughter of the late Sava Stephan, Jr., and Martha "Marty" Hansen and granddaughter of Sergei N. Califonsky. Billy is the son of William and Martha Trefon, Sr., of Nondalton.CIRI Mac b_w

Frederick Theodore Bismark, Sr., 76
Frederick T. Bismark, Sr., died Jan. 10, 2000, at the Alaska Native Medical Center. Mr. Bismark Sr. was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on April 6, 1923. He is survived by his wife Tania; sons Fred Jr., Robert, Stanley, Eugene and Steve; daughters Sharon, Alice, Dorothy and Laura Bismark and Arlene Reiser; grandchildren Lisa, Lindsay, Sherri, Julie Ann, Toni Bismark, Derek Adams, Ernie Baker Jr., Kayla Reiser, Eric and Melissa Torrey, Yvonne and Kristen Webber, Tania Evon, Sonny Zaochney, Margaret and Christine Bell; four great granddaughters, one great grandson, one niece and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
 
Herschel R. Bryant, Sr., 72
Herschel R. Bryant, Sr. died Dec. 30, 1999, at the Providence Alaska Medical Center. Mr. Bryant was born in Waco, Texas, on March 6, 1927. He is survived by his wife Betty; son Leslie; son and daughter-in-law Jay Bryant and Gena Goss; daughter and son-in-law Michelle L. and Howard Chivers; grandsons Travis and Alexzander R. Bryant and granddaughter Michelle M. Chivers and sister Betty J. Watkins
Harry Leman, 77
Harry Leman died Dec. 1, 1999, at his residence. Mr. Leman was born in Ninilchik, Alaska, on Oct. 11, 1922. He is survived by his sons Harry "Butch" Leman and Boyd "Dan" Leman; daughters Karen Tegeler, Stephanie MacCormack and Patricia Leman; sisters Juanita Bertosan, Ann Leman, Betty Porter and Rose MacSwain; brothers Nick and Joe Leman.
 
George Mathies Lowney, Jr.
George M. Lowney, Jr., died Jan. 23, 2000, at his residence in Calimesa, California. Mr. Lowney was born in LaTouche, Alaska, on Dec. 11, 1929. He is survived by his wife Mildred; sons Robert M., Glenn H. and George D. Lowney.
 
Vera Toloff Murphy, 81
Vera T. Murphy died Dec. 16, 1999, at Heartwood Extended Care in Tacoma, Wash. Ms. Murphy was born in Fort Gibbon on May 21, 1918. She is survived by her daughter Cathey McBride; son Daniel Murphy; and brothers Bernard, Daniel, Thomas and Charles Toloff.
