Question:

Carl Marrs mentioned in a January letter that there would be a second special distribution made to shareholders. When will shareholders receive this second distribution?

Answer:

As stated in Carl Marrs¹ letter of Jan. 5, 2001, CIRI may sell 4,071,230 million shares of its VoiceStream stock. The CIRI Board of Directors determined that when these shares are sold, the proceeds, less the approximately $314 million paid out during the first special distribution, are slated for future dividends. It is unlikely that all of the shares will be sold at one time, rather they will be liquidated in a time frame and manner deemed prudent by the corporation. At this time, there are no plans to sell the shares immediately in light of the price.

Question:

How does one become a CIRI Shareholder? How can my children become shareholders?

Answer:

Native corporation stock cannot be sold and enrollment to the corporation closed in the 1970s. The only way to transfer stock is through inheritance and gifting. A gifting packet is available through the Shareholder Relations department. Call 274-8638 in Anchorage, or (800) 764-2474 toll free. The gifting packet is also available on line at www.ciri.com.
