David Alex, 70
David Alex of Anchorage, Alaska died August 30, 1999 at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Mr. Alex was born January 15, 1929. He is survived by cousins Janet Daniels, Alan, Robert, Susan and Shawna Larson.
 
Evelyn Marie Carlson, 66
Evelyn Marie Carlson of Sitka, Alaska died August 15, 1999 at SEARCH Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka, Alaska. Ms. Carlson was born June 13, 1933 in Craig, Alaska. She is survived by sons Jacob Jay, Courtland Drew and Craig Jay Lestenkof; daughter Debra Ann Lestenkof.
 
Frances Louise Odman, 70
Frances Louise Odman of Anchorage, Alaska died September 3, 1999 at her residence. Ms. Odman was born March 7, 1929 in Ninilchik, Alaska. She is survived by son Kenneth G. Odman; grandchildren Tara, Sarah, Carl, Natasha and Jessica Odman and Jessica Docherty; great-grandchildren Darius Watkins, McKenzie Docherty, Lars and Nana Odman; brother Ted Odman; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
Lucille Florence Smith, 84
Lucille Florence Smith of Anchorage, Alaska died August 13, 1999 at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. Mrs. Smith was born April 3, 1914 in Seattle, Washington. She is survived by husband Donald C. Smith; son Michael L. Smith; grandsons Mathew V. and Mark H. Smith.

Lestenkof graduates with Master's
Sonia M. Lestenkof, daughter of shareholders Michael and Janet Lestenkof, completed her Master's degree in education, graduating with honors this summer at Western Oregon University. After teaching high school English in Oregon for the past two years, she is currently teaching high school English to American expatriates in Mexico City at an American international school.
 
Baby Arianna

Arianna Isabell Rivera was born September 23 and weighted in at nine pounds, four ounces. Arianna is the daughter of Roberto and Dolly Rivera and granddaughter of CIRI shareholder Carmen Grace Blair.

Baby Dale

Dale Franco Robert Standifer was born August 12 and weighed in at eight pounds, two ounces and was 20 inches long. Dale is the son of Janelle Lynn Standifer, grandson of CIRI shareholders Ernest and Judy Baker, and great grandson of CIRI shareholder Elizabeth Baker.

Swan Gease to perform again
Bunny Swan Gease, daughter of CIRI board member Clare Swan, will make her second appearance at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts this month. Swan Gease, who performed at the Washington D.C. center in 1997, is performing as part of a conference for the National Alliance for Arts in Education. She plans to debut four new songs and perform others from her CD, "What is Love."
