HERITAGE CENTER ACQUIRES GIFT SHOP |
|
The Alaska Native Heritage Center recently assumed operation of the on-premise gift shop previously operated by a concessionaire as Culture Crafts. In addition to the ownership change, the shop has been renamed Heritage Gifts. Changes are slated for the store layout, signage and merchandise mix. "We want to continue to be known as one of the best places to purchase authentic Alaska Native arts and crafts," said Margaret Nelson, president and chief executive officer. "Through Heritage Gifts we want to reinforce the craftsmanship and value of Alaska Native art forms. Our partnerships with Alaska Native artisans across the state will prove invaluable in helping us achieve this goal." In addition to regular resale merchandise, Heritage Gifts will continue to accept items on consignment. Heritage Gifts is currently open on weekends from noon to 5:00 p.m. through April 2002, and will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the 2002 summer season.
