Alaska Job Corps Provides Assistance
Administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, Job Corps provides year-round vocational, academic and social skills training for young women and men in a residential setting free of charge for eligible participants. Because employers want workers who are motivated, competent and reliable, Job Corps trains its students to meet these needs by developing a work ethic and skills to obtain quality employment.
Participants must be between the ages of 16 and 24, a resident of the United States, with a low income, without a history of serious health and/or behavioral problems and in need of vocational training to get a good job.
The Alaska Job Corps Center provides training in a residential campus setting with separate dormitories for males and females and an

environment free of alcohol, drugs and violence. While enrolled, the program also provides basic needs such as room and board, transportation and clothing. Job Corps also provides basic health and medical services.
For single parents with children between the ages of six weeks and five years of age, there is the Solo Parent program, which provides childcare at the Child and Family Development Center while the parent attends classes.
In Alaska, there are opportunities for career training in accounting, building and apartment maintenance, business/clerical, carpentry, child development, culinary arts, electrician, health occupations, heavy equipment operations, painting and water/wastewater treatment.

Director of Senior Housing at CIHA
Cook Inlet Housing Authority is seeking an experienced manager to oversee its senior low-rent housing developments. This position supervises low rent management personnel and the staff for 267 units located in Anchorage, Kenai, Ninilchik and Seldovia, including janitorial, building management, building maintenance and activity coordinators. The manager coordinates and schedules repairs, required maintenance and modernization work for all developments including the contracting of services as needed. The manager is responsible for account collections and lease enforcement for all developments; responds to client requests for building and unit services and complaints; and represents the Housing Authority at resident organization meetings and other public gatherings.
The successful applicant will have strong verbal and writing skills, the ability to speak to large groups of people, and have experience in public housing management and dealing with the needs of elders. Experience and knowledge of HUD Indian housing programs and dealing with senior low rent programs is required.
Minimum requirements for this position include at least five years of progressive responsible multi-unit residential management and development. Also, a business or management degree is preferred. Applicants must have valid Alaska driver's license and computer knowledge of MS Office, Excel and MS Word.
