• Accounting Intern

The accounting intern is responsible for general accounting support including accounts payable and receivable processing, data entry, reconciliation, account analysis and filing. Under supervision of the accounting manager, this position will gain exposure to the preparation of basic financial statements, bank reconciliation backup support, general accounts receivable processing support, in-state commercial deposit processing backup support and assist with the processing of general accounts payable including verification of accounting codes, reconciliation to vendor statements, processing payments and filing. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and one year of college education with basic accounting classes, one year of practical accounting experience, or any combination of education and experience to equal one year progressively responsible accounting experience. Must be enrolled in college and seeking a degree with an emphasis in accounting or finance. Hours will be 16 to 20 hours weekly and will work around class schedule.


Seward Windsong Lodge
• Seasonal Executive Chef
This position is a nine-month seasonal position with full benefits. The executive chef is responsible for coordinating the activities and directing training of the lodge's sous chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers engaged in preparing and cooking foods to ensure an efficient and profitable food service. Duties include planning menus and utilization of food surpluses; estimating food consumption; reviewing menus, analyzing recipes and determining food, labor and overhead costs; supervising cooks and other kitchen personnel; and observing methods of food preparation and cooking. Candidates must have two years experience as an executive chef or similar position and the necessary training. Required skills include the ability to manage staff in a fair and professional manner; ability to meet budgeted food and labor costs; ability to design menus for optimum product usage and highest sales; versatile food preparation skills; and the ability to teach. Associated Press Seeking Native Intern

The Associated Press is looking for a Native American intern for its summer program. Based on a recommendation from the Native American Journalists Association, the AP will select a student for summer 2002.

The AP Internship Program is a 12-week training program for up to 22 print, broadcast, multimedia and photo interns. Each intern will work in an AP bureau under the supervision of a designated trainer and be paid based on experience. Interns who successfully complete the program will be offered a full-time probationary news position upon graduating and receiving their degree.

The AP has designated one intern position to be filled by a student through a recommendation from the Native American Journalists Association. Each intern applicant must be a full-time junior, senior or graduate student at an American college or university.

To apply for an internship, applicants must do the following by Nov. 15: complete an AP Employment Application and Applicant Flow Survey; submit a 300-word essay explaining why he/she is interested in the internship, the AP and/or journalism; submit a resume with three or four clips that demonstrate the breadth of the applicant's work; complete a newswriting/editing test at the nearest AP bureau (print, broadcast and multimedia applicants only); submit samples of work: photo applicants must submit a portfolio, broadcast applicants must submit a three-minute audio tape with samples of radio work; and interview with an AP Manager at the nearest AP bureau.
