ANC R&D wins Washington engineering, construction contract

ANC Research & Development LLC (ANC R&D) won an engineering and construction contract from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Dec. 23, 2009. The $245,000 contract is for the restoration of an effluent pond at the Abernathy Fish Technology Center in Longview, Wash. This project is a Small Business Administration (SBA) 8(a) award.

The contract will restore the pond to its original dimensions and configuration and will include additional site clearing, grading, screen replacement and manhole repairs. The pond was originally built in 1959. The Abernathy Fish Technology Center is an applied research facility that studies and develops new concepts and techniques in aquatic restoration and recovery activities.

ANC R&D will be the general (prime) contractor with overall responsibility for contract performance. ANC R&D will also accomplish 15 to 20 percent of construction labor to comply with SBA requirements. ANC R&D estimates a six-week duration for continuous construction at the site.

Five Rivers Construction Inc. (Five Rivers) will be the primary subcontractor on this project. Five Rivers has successfully provided construction work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the past. Harper Houf Peterson Righellis Inc. is the project designer.
