Henry Mark Allen died March 7 at home in Anchorage. Mr. Allen was born in Bremerton, Wash. He is survived by his daughters, Zana and Jenna; son, Trevon; the mother of his children, Anita Allen; mother and stepfather, Carole and Rod; and brother, Bryon Allen.
Harold Andrew Anderson, 52
Harold Andrew Anderson died March 24 at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Mr. Anderson was born Sept. 4, 1956, in Anchorage. He graduated from West High School. He loved art work, drawing, painting models and puzzles. He loved going to the beach and making camp fires, and he was a lifelong fisherman. He acquired his passion for fishing from his grandfather, “Moose Meat John.” He also loved his music and hanging out with friends. He was a very generous man and will be missed by his close friends in Kenai and his family throughout Alaska. He is survived by his sisters, Alice J. Callahan and Beverly Pfluger; nephews, Wayne Johnson, Glen Johnson, Patrick Nutt, John Pfluger and Billy Pfluger; nieces, Angela Herb and Pearl Nestor; cousin, Pete Ekstrom; and friends Raymond Robinson and Dennis.
Marie B. Anderson, 75
Marie B. Anderson died March 26 at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage. Ms. Anderson was born Aug. 2, 1933, in Afognak, Alaska. She is survived by her daughters, Sam V. L. Hodena, Valerie J. Anderson and Debra K. DeJesus; sister, Margaret; and brothers, Paddy and Nick Mullan.
Mary Crosley, 93
Mary Crosley died April 13 at Fox Hollow Residential Care in Eugene, Ore. Ms. Crosley was born July 27, 1915, in Ninilchik, Alaska. She is survived by her daughters, LaVae Gillis, Bonnie Gesh and Mary Ann Mills; and son, Britton Crosley.
Bobby Ray Gafford, 60
Bobby Ray Gafford died Oct. 31, 2008, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas. Mr. Gafford was born in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; daughters, Jewell, Charlene, Mary, Bobbie and Roann; son, Larry; mother, Lillie Gafford; and sisters, Faye Idleman and Linda Young.
Roscoe Layland, 53
Roscoe Layland died Dec. 6, 2008, at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Mr. Layland was born May 26, 1955, in Glennallen, Alaska. He was raised by his grandparents, Elma and Ruth Layland in Idaho and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He loved to read, fish with his grandson, solve word puzzles and be on the computer. He is survived by his wife, Mabel Layland; daughters, Tasha Layland and Caitlan Metcalf; sons, Keith Layland and Gerald Alexie; sisters, Helen Geisert, Rose Moody and Josephine Puffin; brothers, Leroy and George Layland; grandson, Christopher Brown; and granddaughters, Lena and Elenor Layland.
Mildred Ellen Maddox, 68
Mildred Ellen “Millie” Maddox died Feb. 9 at her home in Chugiak, Alaska. Ms. Maddox was born in 1941 in Sitka, Alaska. She was Wooshkeetaan and was raised by the Richard Katlian family until her early teenage years. She resided in Anchorage for many years before moving to Chugiak 20 years ago. She is survived by her only child, Tamara Lee Childs and her husband Jay Childs of Anchorage; brother, Gil and his wife Shirley Truitt of Sitka, Alaska; sister, Corrine and her husband Ted Heaton of Bellevue, Wash.; and nieces and nephews. Her daughter states, “Mom’s beauty, dreams and aspirations will forever live in my heart. Once Mom made up her mind, there was no changing it! Memories of my Mom will be forever cherished and remembered.”

Jessie Nelson died Feb. 2 at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop, Calif. Ms. Nelson was born May 1, 1907, in Hope, Alaska. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Nelson; granddaughter, Terri Nelson; great-grandchildren, Sabrina Hartwick, Jenifer Buchanan, Leah, Philip, Stephanie and Samantha Westberg; and great-great-grandchildren, Angelica, Ashley and Kabrina Jackson and Dominic Buchanan.
Frank Lee Oksoktaruk, 51
Frank Lee Oksoktaruk died Feb. 20 in White Mountain, Alaska. Mr. Oksoktaruk was born Jan. 13, 1958, in White Mountain, Alaska. He is survived by his sisters, Doris Williams and Lena Oksoktaruk-Wood; brothers, John, Ernest and Abraham Oksoktaruk; nieces, Patricia Lillie, Theresa Lincoln and Jessie Marie Phillips; and nephews, Robert, Curtis and Martin Williams, Craig-David Wood, Arnold and Jacob Oksoktaruk and Benjamin Oksoktaruk Jr.
