John Thomas “Koogie” Oksoktaruk, 59
John Thomas “Koogie” Oksoktaruk died March 31 at home in White Mountain, Alaska. Mr. Oksoktaruk was born Sept. 7, 1951, in White Mountain to Isaiah and Margaret Oksoktaruk. He was enlisted in the Navy from 1971 to 1975 and served in the Vietnam War. He is survived by his sisters, Doris and Lena; brother, Abraham; nieces, Terri Lincoln, Patti Lillie, Jessie Phillips and Tiffany Lincoln; and nephews, Bob, Curtis and Marty Williams, Craig-David Wood, Jacob and Arnold Oksoktaruk, and Benjamin Oksoktaruk.
Constance Helen Paddock, 90
Constance Helen Paddock died March 17 at the Mt. Edgecombe Hospital in Sitka, Alaska. Ms. Paddock was born June 18, 1920, in Nenana, Alaska to Samuel and Louise Minook Harper. She married Tom Paddock Sr. in 1943, and later lived in Juneau, where she raised their three children, worked as a bookkeeper in her husband’s construction business and worked for the governor’s office and the Alaska State Legislature as chief clerk of the House of Representatives. She was known for her volunteer efforts, baking, jam-making, berry picking, sewing, storytelling and writing skills. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughters, Maxine H. Richert and Anna L. Erbeck; and son, Tom (Thomas) Paddock Jr.
