On April 6th, the CIRI Board of Directors and CIRI’s President and CEO, Sophie Minich, jointly announced a plan to launch a search for a successor to Ms. Minich as she concludes 30 years of service to the Company, the last 10 years with successful leadership as the President and CEO. As we prepare ourselves for the future, we are confident that this transition will position the Company to build upon our strong foundation by focusing on new strategic areas that further support our mission.
Doug Fifer, Chair of CIRI’s Board of Directors, said that “Ms. Minich has been a tremendous leader and we are profoundly grateful for her service to CIRI, our Shareholders, Descendants, and the 60,000 Alaska Natives and American Indians we serve in the CIRI region. We look forward to working with her to ensure a seamless transition that enables CIRI to maintain the momentum gained under her stewardship.”
“The Board and I are confident that the Company’s strong foundation will allow for a smooth transition and continued focus on CIRI’s mission,” Ms. Minich said. “I am immensely grateful to have worked alongside each of our regional and state-wide Native leaders for the betterment of our Alaska Native people.”
The Board, Sophie and the CIRI executive leadership team have collaborated closely throughout the succession planning and transition process, and Sophie will remain with the Company through year end to support a smooth and orderly transition. With the assistance of a third-party executive search firm, the Board will evaluate qualified candidates and find a successor who will carry on the growth fostered under Sophie’s leadership.
