Richard J. Edelman died Jan. 4 at home in Mount Vernon, Wash. Mr. Edelman was born July 20, 1942, in Seldovia, Alaska. He is survived by his wife, Mary Edelman; daughter, Tisha S. Edelman Linn; and sons, Todd J. and Steven S. Edelman.

Herman Randolph Hermansen, 89
Herman Randolph Hermansen died Nov. 21, 2009, at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Mr. Hermansen was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Kenai, Alaska. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Hermansen; daughters, Linda, Karen, Dorothy Lou, Susan, Theadora and Helen Randi; grandchildren, Ragan, Kurt and Miranda; and sister, Mary.

David Eugene Kohlmeyer, 63
David Eugene Kohlmeyer died Dec. 26, 2009, at the Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. Mr. Kohlmeyer was born in St. Louis, Ill. He is survived by his wife, Hazle Kohlmeyer; daughters, Jessica Kohlmeyer, Brigetta Kohlmeyer Bennett, Paula Hill and Shannon Terrell; and four granddaughters and four grandsons.

Serafima Newton, 70
Serafima Newton died Nov. 23, 2009, at home in Anchorage. Ms. Newton was born June 21, 1939, on St. Paul Island, Alaska, to John and Mary Kushin. She was a member of the CIRI, Aleut and Tanadgusix (TDX) corporations. She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughter, Liann Farquhar; daughter and son-in-law, Mary & Todd Lillo; son, George William Newton; grandchildren, Tera Marina Lillo, Luke Donald Conley, Virginia Rose Conley and Gerry Dillinger; mother, Mary Kushin; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Alta Viola Brown Peckman, 80
Alta Viola Brown Peckman died Jan. 4 at home in Olympia, Wash. Ms. Peckman was born Dec. 7, 1929. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Martinson and Anne Keener; son-in-law, August Martinson; granddaughters, Rebeca and Amy Martinson; grandson, Jeremy Swearingen; sisters, Lois Boyle and Carole Sassamen; brother-in-law, Glen Sassamen; nieces, Morea Boyle and Sarah Foria; and nephews, Micheal and Matt Boyle.
