CIRI has formed the “CIRI Raven Runners” team to participate in the upcoming Alaska Run for Women scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2009. You don’t have to be a competitive runner to participate, just a woman. Although it’s women who are doing the walking and running, men are encouraged to participate as volunteers, cheerleaders or donors.
Over the past sixteen years, the Alaska Run for Women has generated over $2.5 million dollars for local organizations offering programs focusing on breast cancer outreach, mammograms, early detection and research. Since 1993, the event has grown from 700 participants to one of the most visible running events in the state with more than 4,600 participants comprised of runners, walkers and volunteers.
Each CIRI Raven Runners team member will sign up individually by one of four different methods (online, mail, call & mail, in-person). If registering online, indicate you would like to join the CIRI Raven Runners team when you get to Step 2 – Team Entry. Mail in registration must be postmarked by June 1, 2009 and online registration closes on June 11, 2009 for timed events and June 12, 2009 for non-timed events. Registration will not be available on race day, so please register early! All individuals pick up their own bibs at specified bib pick-up times and locations.
CIRI Raven Runners will receive additional information regarding team shirts and the race day rally location for a group picture.
