CIRI is seeking nominations for the 2008 CIRI Shareholder of the Year Award and AFN President’s Awards. Nominations must be submitted to CIRI by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19. CIRI’s Shareholder of the Year Award recognizes shareholders for exemplifying dedication to Alaska Native culture, heritage and communities. The AFN President’s Awards spotlight Alaska Natives who have excelled in one of 10 categories of achievement.

The CIRI Shareholder of the Year Award recognizes shareholders for exemplifying dedication to Alaska Native culture, heritage and communities. The award acknowledges both their accomplishments and their contributions to Alaska Natives. The award will be presented at the CIRI Friendship Potlatch in Anchorage this October. Only CIRI shareholders can submit nominations.

AFN’s President’s Awards include 10 categories: Culture Bearer, Della Keats “Healing Hands,” Eileen Panigeo MacLean Education, Elder of the Year, Health, Hunter-Fisher, Parents of the Year, Public Service, Roger Lang Youth Leadership, and Small Business. CIRI is seeking recommendations for its formal nominations to AFN. The awards will be presented at the 2008 AFN Convention at the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center in Anchorage.
