The Tikahtnu Commons Workforce Initiative is a partnership between CIRI, Cook Inlet Tribal Council Inc. (CITC) and the Alaska Department of Labor that aims to increase the Alaska Native hire rate of the project by recruiting and preparing applicants for construction and retail jobs. The initiative is in full swing, with CITC playing a lead role. The Tikahtnu Commons project currently has 21 percent Alaska Native hire and is excited about the applicants applying for Union Journeyman and Apprenticeship positions. In anticipation of future retail workforce needs as the regional retail and entertainment center becomes operational, CITC is working in collaboration with the University of Alaska Anchorage to provide retail management training. Although this first session is already underway, the initiative’s goal is to provide other training opportunities in the future. CIRI encourages interested shareholders to contact CITC.
