CIRI subsidiary North Wind Group announces the acquisition of Portage, Inc. (Portage) and all its subsidiaries. Portage and North Wind are familiar with each other – the Idaho Falls, Idaho-based companies are two of the leading small businesses in the federal environmental services market.

“The addition of Portage to the North Wind Group of companies strengthens our capabilities coast to coast and enables us to become even more competitive in our market, fostering continued growth and sustainability for North Wind,” said Christopher P. Leichtweis, North Wind Group president and CEO. “Portage has a great reputation for excellent performance. Together, we are a stronger and more capable organization.”

2016 saw North Wind Group grow to more than 850 employees. With the addition of Portage, the combined company will now employ more than 1,100 individuals, making North Wind Group one of the most robust and capable small businesses in the federal market operating in eight primary North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes. The newly-combined companies will operate in 35 states and three countries, with plans for continued growth in Canada and the Pacific Rim.

“North Wind’s performance has been a great benefit for our shareholders and helps make CIRI a stronger, more diversified company,” said Sophie Minich, president and CEO of CIRI. “With this new acquisition, we look forward to continued growth while delivering the performance excellence and commitment to safety that are hallmarks of North Wind.”
