Coach of the Year

CIRI shareholder Dan Leman recently was honored as ASAA’s Region II Coach of the Year. He is the girls basketball coach for the 2A Ninilchik Lady Wolverines. This is Leman’s third such award since he began coaching in 1990. He has also been named 1A/2A Coach of the Year seven times. His girls team finished their 2008 season as state 2A runners up. The Lady Wolverines have won eight 2A state championships since 1996 and are the first team in Alaska basketball history, in any division, to win five consecutive state championships.
