In Touch: Knik Cultural Charter School

CIRI Shareholder Esther Shade (Yup’ik) is pleased to announce the opening of the Knik Cultural Charter School, which is currently pre-enrolling students and will provide on-site education and statewide correspondence services beginning in fiscal year 2023. Esther is employed with the Knik Tribal Council as a life skills instructor/State Training & Employment Program assistant manager. The Knik Cultural Charter School will be Alaska’s first Indigenous K-12 charter school. Congratulations to Esther and all those who worked to shepherd the school through the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District Board of Education approval process!
