Chief Financial Officer
As CIRI’s chief legal officer, Daniel Mitchell oversees the Company’s finance and accounting, business development and information technology departments. He is responsible for CIRI’s financial management, accounting and internal control systems and budget and financial reporting matters. He also directs efforts to make new investments, conducts and leads due diligence for new acquisitions, and oversees the company’s tax planning and compliance programs.
Prior to joining CIRI, Daniel was a managing director at KPMG LLP’s Anchorage office, where he spent 22 years providing accounting and auditing services to Alaska‑based companies. He has experience across a broad range of industries including airlines, construction, financial services, government contracting, oil and gas, state pension, and investment funds and utilities.
Daniel serves on the boards of The CIRI Foundation and the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts; is a member of the limited partnership advisory committee of Builders VC; and serves on advisory committees for the University of Alaska Anchorage’s Alaska Native Organization Management Program and the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Management accounting advisory board. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage and is a licensed certified public accountant in Alaska. He joined the CIRI team in 2018.
