For more than 20 years, CIRI and the Ninilchik Traditional Council (NTC) have worked together to manage access to CIRI lands for moose hunting. We are pleased to continue this partnership in 2026.
State of Alaska Game Management Unit 15C (GMU 15C), located on the Kenai Peninsula, encompasses both CIRI and Ninilchik Native Association lands. GMU 15C is an important resource for CIRI Shareholders and Descendants who rely on subsistence hunting to feed their families.
For the 2026 moose hunting season, NTC will issue permits to hunt on CIRI lands within GMU 15C. CIRI Shareholders and Descendants who wish to access CIRI lands open for moose hunting within GMU 15C must acquire the necessary permits from NTC:
NTC will begin issuing permits at 9:00 a.m. AKDT on Monday, Aug. 24
Permits must be obtained in person at the NTC Resource Office, located at 66590 Oil Well Road, Ninilchik, AK 99639
Further information about gate-access hours will be available when permits are picked up at NTC's office.
Please note that CIRI permits authorized access only to CIRI lands. Permit holders are solely responsible for ensuring they have permission to access any other private lands. Each permit authorizes one (1) CIRI Shareholder or Descendant and one (1) guest.
The moose hunting season in GMU 15C is open Sept. 1–25. CIRI lands open to moose hunting in 2026 are shown in green on the map. For additional information about the season, eligibility requirements and hunting regulations, please visit the Alaska Department of Fish and Game website.
If you have questions regarding permission to access CIRI lands, please email permitting@ciri.com.
