As 2025 draws to a close, it’s a natural time to pause, reflect and look ahead to what 2026 may hold. This past year has been one of growth, connection and continued strength for our Company. Despite challenging circumstances across our state and nation, CIRI remains steadfast—grounded in our values and focused on creating opportunities for our Shareholders and Descendants.
A strong foundation
Financially, 2025 has been a successful year for CIRI. Our continued diversification and improved performance allowed us to increase Shareholder distributions 14% over the previous year, marking the largest single-year increase in more than a decade.
Our year-end 2024 acquisition of OSC Edge, a leading IT solutions provider to government and defense organizations, made CIRI a global company, with a presence now in 45 states, eight countries and three continents. Our diversified portfolio of investments continues to deliver strong results, underscoring the value of strategic investments that balance stability with growth, even amid broader economic uncertainty and ongoing challenges within the federal government.
Investing in Our People
This year also brought meaningful advancements across our Shareholder and Descendant programs. The Ada Honor Program was introduced in June to provide burial assistance for families of deceased Shareholders—a tangible way to honor loved ones and ease the financial burden of funeral costs. In July, the inaugural Stellar Space Experience inspired a new generation through hands-on learning that combined science, technology, engineering and math with Alaska Native culture and heritage.
CIRI also deepened our engagement with our Cook Inlet villages and Tribes through on-the-ground visits and ongoing dialogue. Conversations held over the last several months have focused on both challenges—such as the impacts of cuts to federal funding—and opportunities for partnership and economic development. Each visit reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthening the cultural and economic foundations of our villages and Tribes.
At the same time, CIRI continued to advocate for broader benefits for Alaska Native people. The Alaska Native Settlement Trust Eligibility Act, which CIRI strongly supported, was signed into law in July. The legislation ensures payments from CIRI and other Alaska Native corporations can be placed into settlement trusts without jeopardizing eligibility for federal assistance programs for Alaska Native Elders (aged 65+), people with disabilities and those who are blind.
Celebrating culture and connection
Among the highlights of the year were our fall Friendship Potlatches, which brought Shareholders, Descendants and families together in celebration. These gatherings are at the heart of who we are, providing opportunities to reconnect, share stories and uplift our cultures.
This year, CIRI introduced even more cultural content into our Potlatch programs, from traditional tea-making to arts and crafts led by Alaska Native artists. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to continuing to grow these elements in the years ahead.
Advocacy and leadership
Throughout 2025, CIRI continued to advocate at both the state and federal levels on issues that matter most to our people. From resource development to federal policy impacting Alaska Native corporations, CIRI’s Board and executive team have worked to ensure our voice is heard.
We also partnered with the Alaska Native community to support recovery efforts in Western Alaska, ensuring that individuals, families, communities and local economies affected by the storm damage from Typhoon Halong have the support and resources they need to rebuild.
While this fall’s federal government shutdown—the longest in U.S. history, lasting 43 days—created uncertainty as we close out the year, CIRI remains focused on advancing our mission and protecting the interests of our Shareholders and Descendants.
Looking ahead with optimism
The year ahead will undoubtedly bring new challenges. But if 2025 proved anything, it’s that CIRI’s strength lies in our unity. We remain committed to sound stewardship, sustainable growth and supportive programs that make a difference in the lives of our people. As we look to 2026, we do so with optimism, guided by the same values that have carried CIRI forward for more than 50 years.
